Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of SalonVQ, an online revision and learning platform for hairdressing, barbering, and beauty therapy students ("the Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. Who can use SalonVQ

SalonVQ is intended for learners aged 16 and over studying (or planning to study) a relevant hairdressing, barbering, or beauty therapy qualification. By registering, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old.

Accounts fall into two types:

• College-managed accounts, created and administered by your college or training provider
• Independent accounts, which you register for yourself directly

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure. Do not share your password with anyone. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@salonvq.co.uk.

You agree to provide accurate information when registering, including a valid email address (for independent accounts).

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts or data
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, security measures, or other technical protections
• Use automated means (bots, scripts) to create accounts or access the Service, except where we've explicitly permitted it
• Upload or submit content that is offensive, harmful, or infringes on others' rights

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Independent learner accounts and deletion

If you register as an independent learner, you can delete your own account and associated data at any time from the Profile screen within the app. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

5. Content and intellectual property

All lesson content, quizzes, branding, and materials within SalonVQ are owned by SalonVQ or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright. You may use this content for your own personal revision and study. You may not copy, redistribute, or use SalonVQ's content for commercial purposes without our permission.

6. No guarantee of qualification outcomes

SalonVQ is a revision and learning support tool. While we aim to help you prepare for your qualification, we do not guarantee any particular exam result, grade, or qualification outcome. Your success depends on many factors beyond the Service itself, including your own study, practical training, and assessment by your awarding body.

7. Service availability

We aim to keep SalonVQ available and functioning correctly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may need to take the Service offline for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances outside our control.

8. Subscriptions and payment (future)

SalonVQ is currently free to use for independent learners. If we introduce paid subscription tiers in future, separate pricing and payment terms will be presented to you before you're charged, and these Terms of Service will be updated accordingly.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SalonVQ is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date when we do. Continued use of SalonVQ after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
